Apple Pie Filling

Homemade apple pie is a real treat. This Apple Pie Filling is great in pies tarts, cookies, squares, crisp or on top of ice cream. You can do so many things with a can of pie filling. I love having some on hand to prepared a quick dessert for any reason. It is apple picking season and the perfect time to bottle some for the winter especially since it is made without any chemicals or unnatural ingredients. This fresh homemade apple pie filling is so good you should probably make a ton of it.

4 cups of sliced peeled Apples
2 tbsp of lemon Juice
1/4 cup of Brown Sugar
1/4 cup of White Sugar
3 tbsp of Cornstarch
1/4 tsp of Nutmeg
1 tsp of Cinnamon
1 cup Water

Pie filling prep


Place apple slices in bowl.
Add 3/4 cup water and lemon juice and toss to prevent browning.
In a saucepan, whisk together cornstarch and 1/4 cup water until blended.
Add cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg. Whisk until blended.
Add contents of apple slice bowl to saucepan and cook over low heat until apples are tender.
Allow to cool before putting in crust.
